WYP launches the Technical Manual for Green & Low-Carbon Development of Small Towns in China

31 Mar 2016

Wei Yang & Partners launches the Technical Manual for Green & Low-Carbon Development of Small Towns in China at the 12th International Conference on Green and Energy-Efficient Building (IGEBC) in Beijing.

Sponsored by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Prosperity Fund and supported by Chinese Ministry of Housing of Urban Rural Development (MoHURD), Wei Yang & Partners developed the Manual in collaboration with China Society of Urban Studies, with support from Hyder Consulting.

Being first of this kind, the Manual aims at providing an easy-to-follow strategic guidance and a clear roadmap to Chinese local decision makers, to guide them using an integrated approach of regenerating and developing their own towns. In China, there are over 20,000 designated towns and 948 million rural citizens (with rural household registration) could benefit from this work.

The Manual has been well received by MoHURD. Now, the Ministry launches a pilot project in March 2016 to encourage Chinese local towns using the approach outlined in the Manual. Wei Yang & Partners and China Society of Urban Studies will be the key implementers of the pilot project.
