Chairman of Wei Yang & Partners, Dr Wei Yang gave a three-hour lecture to the Chinese Ministry of Natural Resources in Beijing yesterday. The Chief Planner and over 100 senior managers from 21 provinces and 10 cities attended the lecture.

During the lecture, Wei emphasised the urgent threat of climate & bio-diversity emergency, and called on immediate actions to be taken by planning professionals globally. Wei also shared her suggestions for the current Chinese National Spatial Planning Reform.

Wei highlighted:

“The whole Chinese national territory should be treated as an ecological entity, which cities, towns, villages are organically integrated into the overall eco-system.

Integrated spatial planning methodology can help achieve green & zero-carbon targets by using localised and low-cost solutions.

The key to making the transformative changes happen is to have a modernised planning profession!”
