Dr Wei Yang elected as RTPI Vice President for 2020

27 Sept 2019

The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) announces today that our Chairman, Dr Wei Yang, has been elected as the Institute’s Vice President for 2020.

Following her year as Vice President, when Wei will work closely with President for 2020 Sue Manns, Wei will lead the Institute as President in 2021.

Wei has extensive experience of volunteering for the RTPI – currently Vice Chair of the International Committee, she has also acted as a judge of the George Pepler International Award and the International Award for Planning Excellence. Between 2015 and 2016, she was a member of the General Assembly.

Reacting to the announcement, Wei said: “I am thrilled and honoured to have been elected by RTPI members as Vice President for 2020 and President for 2021. Thank you all for giving me the mandate to serve the profession that I am passionate about.

“The RTPI was the first professional planning institute founded in the world. Now it is our generation’s responsibility to carry forth our founders’ spirit and take the lead to set the new professional standard for planning to be a ‘global force for good’.

“I look forward to working closely with you all to champion the transformative change the world deserves.”
