Dr Wei Yang elected as a member of the UN Habitat World Urban Campaign Steering Committee

Today, Dr Wei Yang was elected as two Professionals Constituency Co-Chair to sit on the Steering Committee of the UN Habitat World Urban Campaign (WUC).

The World Urban Campaign (WUC) is an advocacy and partnership platform to raise awareness about positive urban change in order to achieve green, productive, safe, healthy, inclusive, and well-planned cities. Its goal is to place the Urban Agenda at the highest level in development policies. It is coordinated by UN-Habitat and driven by a large number of committed partners from around the world.

The election was conducted globally through online voting by WUC Partners. The election result will be announced at the World Urban Forum (WUF 11) taking place in Poland on 26-30 June 2022.

Commenting on her election, Dr Wei Yang said: “I am delighted to be elected as Professionals Constituency Co-Chair to sit on the Steering Committee of the World Urban Campaign. I look forward to representing the RTPI and working closely with other chairs and key stakeholders to strengthen international collaboration on capacity building and contribute to immediate actions on the climate and biodiversity emergency as well as other goals set up by the UN Sustainable Development Goals and New Urban Agenda. I am also keen to do more to engage young people and wider communities and to adopt new technologies to empower the professionals worldwide.”
