Dr Yang, Founding Director elected as Fellow to Academy of Social Sciences

Renowned master planner and founding director of Wei Yang & Partners, Dr Wei Yang, has been elected as fellow to the prestigious Academy of Social Sciences.

An urban designer and master planner with experience in new communities and urban regeneration, Dr Yang, is one of four members of the Royal Town Planning Institute to be elected to the academy this year.

The inclusion of Dr Yang demonstrates her substantial contribution and leadership in the planning field.

Stephen Wilkinson MRTPI, RTPI President said:

“I would like to extend my congratulations, on behalf of the Institute, to Rebecca, Peter, Adrian and Wei on being conferred Fellows of the prestigious Academy of Social Science for their outstanding contribution to planning.”

Following the announcement Dr Yang commented:

“I am honoured to have been awarded a Fellow of Academy of Social Sciences. I am very grateful for the Academy of Social Sciences’ recognition and Royal Town Planning Institute’s nomination.

Planning is an integral part of social science, relating to everybody in society. I am looking forward to contributing more to advance the science and art of town planning for the benefit of the public.”

Dr Wei Yang will join the national Academy of Social Sciences, which includes national and international practitioners from across the full spectrum social sciences. She will work with other fellows to be the collective voice of the social sciences in the United Kingdom.
