Founded in 1826 in the heart of London, UCL is London's leading multidisciplinary university, with more than 13,000 staff and 42,000 students from 150 different countries. CASA is a world leading interdisciplinary institute focusing on the science of cities within The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment at UCL.

CASA was established in 1995 by Professor Michael Batty to lead the development of a science of cities drawing upon methods and ideas in modelling, sensing the urban environment, visualisation and computation. The Centre seeks to examine and offer solutions to the problems of resource efficiency and effective planning and governance shared by all cities.

Dr Wei Yang said: “I am delighted to be conferred as an Honorary Professor of the Bartlett Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis at University College London. CASA is a world-renowned knowledge hub for digital planning. It is vitally important for the planning profession to grasp the enormous opportunities presented by the digital evolution. I look forward to working closely with colleagues in CASA, the Bartlett, and UCL to modernise spatial planning in the 21st Century.”
